Coupe or convertible? What would you pick? I prefer coupes and there is no technical reason behind it – it’s just personal preference. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Jaguar F-Type SVR Convertible. Beyond the sheer power of this thing, I actually enjoyed letting down the top since you can hear that amazingly loud exhaust on the Jaguar F-Type SVR Rental Dubai- and man is it loud!

Not only is the Jaguar F-Type SVR Convertible a really good looking car it does the performance part unquestionably well. The F-Type SVR is a more hardcore version of the $104,900 F-Type R for an additional $21,800. Kind of the same way an Audi RS is a more hardcore version of an S. It’s turned up a notch in terms of aerodynamics, horsepower, handling, and braking.

When compared to its rivals, the F-Type SVR Convertible is more about theatrics and raw power. Yes, it is luxurious like it’s opponent but it seems to focus more on pushing the limits. There’s almost a feeling of American muscle rowdiness hidden under all its sleek sheet metal and luxury brand badges.

I honestly love Jaguar’s exterior design language and in my opinion, the F-Type is the pinnacle of their exterior styling. To me, the Jaguar F-Type is one of the timeless sports cars in terms of design – similar to the Audi R8 and the Porsche 911. While I’d love to see some design upgrades, the overall look and styling is something I can enjoy for years to come.

Building the F-Type R, Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations team made some styling changes to enhance performance. There is an aerodynamics package that accentuates the front bumper and splitter, a flat underfloor, and a large carbon fiber spoiler that can be raised and lowered at your demand. Some are fans of the giant spoiler, like me, and some just absolutely hate it. You’ll also notice wider tires that are wrapped around 20-inch forged wheels.

Weight-wise, when compared to the Jaguar F-Type R – the SVR is 55 lbs. lighter and 110 lbs. lighter with the optional carbon ceramics brakes which cost an extra $12,240. Speaking of price, the color seen here is called Ultra Blue and costs $710 and if that isn’t crazy enough there are paint options that cost a whopping $4,900 from the SVO Premium Palette and can reach $8,500 when you request them in a matte finish. Also, a different color roof will run you an additional $615.

Would you pay an extra $20k to go from 0-60 half a second quicker? The reason I ask the question above is that a lot of convertibles in this segment offer trims that are around $20k cheaper and are about half a second slower to 60 mph. That got me wondering whether or not the slight bump in performance is worth an extra $20k. For example, the F-Type SVR goes from 0-60 in 3.5 secs and costs $126,700 while the F-Type R goes from 0-60 in 3.9 secs and costs $21,800 less. I listed the Coupe options below for some extra comparison. Also, the Porsche 911 S/GTS lineup looks pretty enticing in this price segment.

What qualifications need to be met for a car to be considered a supercar? A powerful V8, 0-60 mph in 3.5, a top speed of 200 mph (195 for the convertible here), and an extremely loud exhaust. It seems like the 575-hp Jaguar F-Type SVR checks a lot of the boxes to being considered a supercar and that’s exactly what Jaguar calls it – “a 200 mph all-weather supercar.” While I would love to call it a supercar – to me a supercar is a one of a kind model that isn’t based on any other model that’s available to the masses. Supercars are a unique sighting that evoke emotion in the rare occasions you see and hear them.

That said, the Jaguar F-Type SVR is unquestionably one of the few outright track monsters that can also be your daily driver – something a supercar isn’t and that’s what makes it amazing in its own right.

Based on the already impressive F-Type R, the SVO team at Jaguar took what was already a great sports car and made it sharper, lighter, and faster. The steering is remarkably precise and the ZF 8-speed Quickshift has been recalibrated for faster gear shifts – and you REALLY feel that in Dynamic or Track mode. Braking on the F-Type is shockingly strong but that’s mainly due to the optional $12,240 carbon ceramic brakes that my test car came with. For those of you wondering – yes, the SVR’s exhaust is even louder and more theatrical than the F-Type R’s. Not to mention, the new lightweight titanium and Inconel exhaust system is 35 lbs. lighter.

Overall, Jaguar’s SVO team made a ton of changes and improvements (too many to list here) over the R that you can somehow justify the $20k+ premium instead of writing off the SVR as an F-Type R with 25 more horses. And hey, maybe Jaguar can get away with calling this a supercar because the F-Type SVR will probably be a rare sighting and it’s breathtaking good looks and marvelous exhaust sounds evoke all kinds of emotions.

What do you think of Jaguar’s interiors? Now, there is no doubt that Jaguars have some of the sexiest exteriors in the luxury segment. To me, their design language is an ideal balance of chic styling and elegance. The interior, on the other hand, is a bit more simplistic. That’s not to say the interior is cheap or lacks quality – actually the total opposite. The Jaguar F-Type SVR Convertible I tested here was packed with quality materials and panels that were wrapped in leather or suede. Each button has a consistent feel with a solid click when you press them. Nevertheless, I do wish the design was a little more voguish when compared to the F-Type SVR’s rivals.

The most vicious Jaguar F-Type comes with 14-way SVR Performance seats finished in black leather with a quilted pattern, contrast stitching, piping, and a bunch of SVR logos. Buyers can also choose between two other interior colors including Siena Tan or Red leather for an extra $2,550. Heated/cooled seats and dual-zone climate are part of an $875 package – options that I feel should be standard at this price point. A carbon-fiber trim costs $765 and a special SVR steering wheel will run you $715.

I was never a big fan of the Jaguar Land Rover infotainment systems but the one I experienced on this 2020 Jaguar F-Type SVR Convertible Rental Dubai seems to have upgraded a lot in terms of performance. It’s quicker and smoother than the ones on the outgoing models. Apple CarPlay/Android Auto are standard with the InControl Touch infotainment that is housed in a 10-inch touchscreen display.

Overall, the interior of the Jaguar F-Type SVR is a pleasant place to be daily and while there is a spirit of luxury throughout – I do wish it was a little more fashionable.

Would you Rent the Jaguar F-Type SVR Dubai? I would and only for the reason that the Jaguar F-Type SVR is a rare sighting on the road. I’m not a fan of blending in with the crowd and the F-Type SVR will help me achieve that. I live in the New Jersey/New York area and I’ve only seen an F-Type maybe twice. On the other hand, I’ve seen a bunch of Audi R8s and Mercedes-AMG GTs and I can be certain that in a few months I’ll see a bunch of BMW 8-Series. But if I’m really honest, the new 8-Series is currently my favorite sports car / grand tourer.

Now, as I said at the beginning of this week, I would most likely go for the F-Type SVR Coupe over the Convertible but the only thing that bothers me about this car is that the pricing can get out of hands. The 2020 Jaguar F-Type SVR Coupe starts at $123,600 whereas the BMW M850i (same 0-60 time and yes, I know they are a little different in driving dynamics) starts at $111,900. Let’s say I stick with the F-Type SVR Coupe because I want to be different. If I were to spec it the way I wanted it with the carbon-ceramic brakes and a few other options that are important to me, I’m looking at over a $145k which sends me about $12k over the starting price of a BMW M8. A Jaguar F-Type R similarly equipped to my taste will run me $122,470, which again about $12k over a BMW M850i. So yes, I would go for a Jaguar F-Type R or SVR but only if I wasn’t stressing over an extra $12k and really wanted that amazing exhaust sound.
