Serial Aspark Owl: 2012 record high for 2.9 million euros
Japanese company Aspark introduced the final version of the Aspark Owl electric hypercar, which will be released in a circulation of 50 copies and is positioned as the most powerful production car in the world.
Aspark is a diversified high-tech company founded in 2005 by entrepreneur Masanori Yoshida. As a car manufacturer, she announced herself in 2017, introducing the Owl hypercar at the Frankfurt Motor Show (translated from English as “owl”). Its development has been carried out since 2014, and since then the project has changed many times, and today at the Dubai Motor Show, finally, the final version is shown.
Two years ago, it was reported that Owl weighs only 850 kg and is driven by two electric motors powered by supercapacitors. This scheme, as they say, did not fire, and the developers came to a completely traditional design for this type of machine. There were four electric motors (one for each wheel), their combined output – 1480 kW (2012 hp) and over 2000 Nm. For comparison, we say that the former contender for the title of the most powerful production car – the British Lotus Evija – produces a maximum of 2000 hp. and 1700 Nm.
Engines of the serial Aspark Owl are powered not from supercapacitors, but from a conventional lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 64 kWh (Lotus Evija has 70 kWh), whose full charge is enough for 450 km on an outdated NEDC cycle. The dry mass of the electric car grew to an impressive 1900 kg (Evija – 1680 kg). Owl accelerates to 100 km / h in 1.9 s, to 300 km / h in 10.6 s (Evija – less than 9 s), the maximum speed is 400 km / h (Evija – 340 km / h). The power plant has four operating modes: sport-dynamic (sports), rain-snow (rain/snow), city-comfort (urban) and high boost (maximum return).
The body of the Japanese hypercar is based on carbon fiber monocoque, complemented by steel amplifiers. The outer panels are also made of carbon fiber. Composite parts are backed by the Italian office Manifattura Automobili Torino, a well-known partner of various piece projects (for example, De Tomaso P72 ), and Japanese cars will also be finished with it. The serial body is supplemented with traditional rear-view mirrors (there were none on the prototypes ) and windows in the doors, while the side rear-view cameras are preserved – the image from them is transmitted to two monitors on the sides of the main instrument panel.
The fixed rear wing has given way to an integrated rear wing – it automatically rises at speeds above 150 km / h and drops when the speed drops below 100 km / h. The interior is made artfully and unpretentiously, which is evident even from the only official photograph. Landing driver and passenger – reclining. The luggage compartment is only 50 liters.
Suspension – hydraulic, on double wishbones “in a circle.” Depending on its position, the ground clearance varies from 80 to 160 mm. In the lower position of the suspension, the overall height of the hypercar is only 910 mm (length – 4791 mm, width – 1935 mm, wheelbase – 2750 mm). Brakes – carbon-ceramic disc with 10-piston calipers in front and 4-piston rear. The front tires have a dimension of 265/35 ZR 20, the rear – 325/30 ZR 21.
To become the owner of Aspark Owl, you need to make an advance payment of 50 thousand euros and wait for your turn. The final price of 2,900,000 euros can be adjusted depending on the individual wishes of the customer. The first production samples will be shipped to customers in the second quarter of next year. The manufacturer promises the most reverent and prompt after-sales service and support. After the release of the Owl model, Aspark intends to take on other stunning projects.
