The car, built on the basis of the Ferrari Portofino convertible, by its appearance actually opened a new segment for the Italian automaker – relatively affordable (of course, by the standards of supercars) coupe with a V8 engine located in the front.
Externally, Ferrari Roma is distinguished by simple, but at the same time really elegant forms, “drawn” in the style of the classic models of the brand. The stylish “physiognomy” of the two-door flaunts the piercing gaze of the head optics with “soaring” running lights and a relief bumper with a huge air intake and a developed splitter, and its sophisticated stern is decorated with spectacular lights, a “chubby” bumper and a pair of “large-caliber double-barreled exhaust systems”.
In profile, a supercar literally captivates with its elegant, balanced and swift, but at the same time minimalistic appearance – a famously sloping hood, a dynamic roofline that runs down to the very lights, expressive sidewalls with flush-mounted door handles and muscular “hips”.
Dimensions and Weight
In length, the Ferrari Roma extends over 4656 mm, reaches a width of 1974 mm, and does not exceed 1301 mm in height. The wheelbase of the car has 2670 mm, and the size of the front and rear tracks in it fits in 1562 mm and 1679 mm, respectively. The dry weight of the two-door is 1472 kg, but in curb form, it already weighs at least 1664 kg.
The interior of the premium coupe is made in a fundamentally new style for Ferrari and is able to boast of a beautiful and modern design, which reigns in a “sporty atmosphere”. On the driver’s seat, there is a three-spoke multi-steering wheel with a developed terrain and a rim cut in the lower part and a virtual instrument cluster, and the massive center console with smoothly falling outlines separating the driver and passenger carries a large vertical tablet of a multimedia system and an air conditioning system. It is also worth noting that another information touchscreen is located directly in front of the “navigator”.
Salon Ferrari Roma has a landing formula “2+”, that is, the back row here can hardly be called even nominal – it is rather a place for small bags. The front riders rely on bucket seats with a pronounced lateral profile, integrated head restraints, a wide range of electric adjustments and other “benefits of civilization.”
Under the hood, the Ferrari Roma contains a 3.9 liter V8 petrol eight-cylinder engine with a V-shape, two turbochargers, a flat crankshaft, a direct injection system, phase shifters at the inlet and outlet and a 32-valve timing, producing 620 horsepower at 5750-7500 rpm minute and 760 Nm of torque at 3000-5250 rpm. By default, the supercar is equipped with an 8-band DCT robotic gearbox with two clutches and shift paddles and a rear-wheel-drive transmission with electronically controlled differential. From zero to 100 km / h, the two-door from Maranello “shoots” in just 3.4 seconds, and after 9.3 seconds it leaves behind the second “hundred”, after which it does not stop its acceleration to reach 320 km / h.
The base for the Ferrari Roma is a spatial frame made of aluminum, which implies a longitudinal arrangement (within the base) of the power unit in the front. Independent suspensions with adaptive electronically controlled shock absorbers filled with magnetorheological fluid are used on both axles of the car: in front – a double-lever, and in the back – a multi-link. The rack-and-pinion steering with an active electric amplifier and the variable gear ratio is assigned to the supercar normally. On all wheels of the two-door, carbon-ceramic disc brakes with ventilation are enclosed, supplemented by ABS, EBD and other electronic “lotions”.

It is expected that sales of Ferrari Roma will start in the spring of 2020 at a price of ~ 190 thousand euros (~ 13.4 million ), that is, a coupe will cost about the same money as a Portofino convertible with a hardtop.
