Third Edition BMW X6 M
The BMW X6M is a mid-size all-wheel drive coupe-like premium SUV that embodies the sporty character in the tradition of the M-series cars with high functionality from the X-family … The main target audience of this crossover is wealthy city dwellers (primarily men) who want to get a truly dynamic and fast car that allows them to dominate the flow, but do not want to sacrifice comfort, safety, or practicality …
The official presentation of the “charged” all-terrain vehicle BMW X6 M of the third incarnation with the internal labeling “F96” took place on October 2, 2019, during an online presentation, and it “came into being” only a few months after the release of the “civilian” model with the index “G06” .
Having changed the generation, the coupe-shaped crossover remained true to its form factor, but at the same time underwent significant metamorphoses – it “moved” to a new modular “truck”, prescribed a modernized (more powerful) engine under the hood and became noticeably more technological (although in terms of engineering it did not reach the passenger “emok”).
Visually recognizing the third-generation BMW X6 M against the background of the “civilian” model will not be difficult – it will immediately be given a more aggressive body kit along the perimeter of the body, an enlarged spoiler on the fifth door, mirrors with imitation of double mounting legs and a couple of large-caliber “double-barreled” exhaust systems.
Dimensions and Weight
The length of the crossover compartment is 4941 mm, and its width and height are 2019 mm and 1692 mm, respectively. The wheelbase of the car extends to 2972 mm, and it is ground clearance reaches 213 mm.
In running order, the five-door weighs at least 2295 kg, and its total mass is three tons.
Inside the “third” BMW X6 M boasts a beautiful and “thoroughbred” design, impeccable ergonomics, extremely premium materials, and high-quality workmanship.
Its distinguishing features against the background of the standard “brother” are not so much a sports multi-steering wheel, additional graphic modes for a combination of devices and more embossed front seats with integrated head restraints, but red elements, namely the engine start button and a pair of programmable keys (M1 and M2 ) on the steering wheel.
In terms of cargo and passenger capabilities, the “charged” crossover has parity with “civilian” versions: the car’s interior is able to receive the driver and four of its satellites, and the boot volume varies from 580 to 1,530 liters (depending on the position of the second row of seats).
Under the hood of the third-generation BMW X6 M is an eight-cylinder 4.4-liter petrol engine with a V-shaped architecture, two twin-scroll turbochargers, direct fuel injection, lightweight pistons and phase shifters at the inlet and outlet, available in two boost options:
by default, it generates 600 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 750 Nm of torque at 1800-5600 rpm
on the version of Competition – 625 hp at 6000 rpm and 750 Nm of rotational thrust at 1800-5800 rpm.
The normally “charged” crossover is equipped with an 8-band M Steptronic automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive M xDrive transmission with a multi-plate clutch transferring traction to the front axle, and an electronically controlled Active M active differential that redistributes the moment between the right and left rear wheels.
From place to the first “hundred”, the five-door catapults after 3.8-3.9 seconds, and accelerates to a maximum of 250 km / h (speed is electronically limited). Regardless of the version, the car “destroys” at least 12.7 liters of fuel for every 100 km in the combined cycle.
Structurally, the “third” BMW X6 M repeats the standard “brother” in many respects – it is also based on the CLAR modular “trolley” with a supporting body and independent suspensions of both axles (two-lever front and multi-link rear).
Moreover, already in the “base”, the coupe-shaped SUV boasts a reinforced body, an adaptive chassis with electronically controlled shock absorbers and more rigid rubber-metal joints, as well as an active rear stabilizer.
The car relies on the rack and pinion steering with an active electromechanical amplifier and a variable gear ratio. In addition, this crossover “flaunts” a powerful braking system: six-piston calipers and 395 mm ventilated discs are installed in front of it, and single-piston mechanisms and pancakes with 380 mm ventilation are installed at the rear. The list of options includes carbon-ceramic brakes.
